We give not because we must, but because we may.
In keeping with longstanding United Church on the Green tradition, 100% of the monies collected at our Christmas Eve service will be donated to local charities. This year, the offering will be split between two of our longstanding community partners.
For many years United Church has worked closely with Columbus House, particularly in the Abraham's Tent program. For many years prior to COVID, United Church hosted a group of un-housed men (and sometimes women) in our Bradley Room for one week during the coldest winter months. For many years, members and friends of United Church prepared meals, provided entertainment and companionship, and stayed overnight in support of the program. Our children and youth also served as some of our most eager hosts. Unfortunately this important mission was on hiatus due to COVID and we were recently informed that there are not enough hosting congregations available to support the program this year. As you know, our own Bradley room remains unavailable. Whether you are in church on Christmas Eve or not, please consider giving generously so that United Church can continue to support Columbus House in their work with the un-housed in our community.

The second recipient of our Christmas Eve offering will be Youth Continuum. Youth Continuum is a Clifford Beers Community Health Partner seeking to help youth (often LGBTQ youth), experiencing homelessness. They have an new emergency shelter program and our donations will help support this important work. Whether by check, cash or electronic means, please give generously.
